Design Brief Template
v2.0
Purpose. Captures the client's requirements for any custom order or event so that the designer can interpret the brief, plan the design and order the right stock.
1.How to use this template
Complete the brief during the consultation or when taking a custom order at the counter. Ask open questions about the occasion, the recipient or guests, the setting and the feeling the client wants, and only then discuss flowers. Record the budget range honestly.
2.Style and palette
Record the style in the terms used in the design standards guide: garden, structured, minimal, lush, classic or contemporary. Record the colour palette with at least one anchor colour and note any colours to avoid. Attach reference images the client supplies.
3.Constraints
Record allergies, cultural or religious requirements, venue rules on candles, hanging points and rigging, access times, and whether the work must be removed after the event. These constraints shape the mechanics and the schedule.
4.Design response
The designer must add a short design response: the concept, the key flowers proposed, the mechanics and vessels, and any alternatives if a flower is out of season. The response is the basis for the quotation and the production plan.
5.Consent
Record whether the client consents to photographs of the work being used on the website and social media. Without recorded consent, photographs must not be published.
