Receive and condition the Monday grower delivery
You are the Stock Assistant at the Cremorne workroom.
What has happened
It is 6:30 on Monday morning at the Cremorne workroom. Two grower deliveries are due within the hour: Yarra Valley Blooms with garden roses, David Austin roses, snapdragons and eucalyptus, and Dandenong Natives with waratah, kangaroo paw, banksia and flowering gum. The Buying and Stock Coordinator is at the wholesale market and has asked you to receive both deliveries alone. The receival bench needs preparing, the cool room opening temperature has not been taken, and the workroom benches start production at 8 am and will be pulling from this stock. Last week a bunch of imported roses arrived with botrytis and a claim had to be lodged, so condition grading matters.
Deliverables
- Two completed Stock Receival and Condition Check Forms
- Three entries in the Stock Intake and Cool Room Log (temperature plus two deliveries)
- A conditioning treatment list for the five flower types
- A handover note to the Buying and Stock Coordinator

Evidence guide
Look for correct identification of each flower type, the right conditioning treatment for woody, hollow and sappy stems, accurate counts and honest grading, bucket labels that follow the procedure, first in first out placement, and complete register entries with the correct status. The handover note shows whether the student understands what needs escalation, particularly the shortfall and any claim.
